Kristobal Rios
I recently saw Kristobal Rios for the first time in the ensemble of NTPA’s Pippin. His mastery of MattJohn West’s challenging choreography impressed me and I wanted to learn more about this talented young man. I’m certain we will be enjoying more performances from Kristobal soon. Take a few moments to learn about this outstanding young performer.
When was your first time on stage?
I was 17 years old; I had gone to audition with a friend for a play called A Servant of Two Masters in hopes that I would embarrass myself enough that my friend would be cast. Shortly thereafter I received a call back and was offered the role of Florindo.
When did you know you wanted to be an actor?
2 years ago, after watching Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).
Who is your greatest mentor?
Ashlee Elizabeth Bashore has been my biggest mentor, I came across her by accident and she gave me the opportunity to attend her workshop. When given the chance to work with her she was patient, charismatic and delightful. There had been rough days that I felt without purpose or hope and being around her gave me hope. She has opened doors of opportunities that I know would not exist without her and I am forever grateful to have her in my life.
What role have you enjoyed the most in your career so far?
It wasn’t a role but I dressed up as Spider-Man for Vacation Bible School and it was amazing seeing the reactions.
Do you have a dream role?
I would love to do a film about my father about his journey to America and I would like to portray the role of my father.
What person(s) would you like to be on stage with?
Dylan Boehm, Micheal Padilla, Brenda Janeth, Alvee Baker, Lindsay Bentley and Shaun Breland. These are actors that I have grown with and they have exemplified extraordinary talent and passion for this craft. To share the stage with them would be a blessing and a dream come true.
What performances have you seen that impressed you?
Andrew Garfield performance in “I’m Here”, Dev Patel performance in, “The Man Who Knew Infinity” and Eddie Redmayne, “The Theory of Everything”.
What are your career goals?
Improve myself and learn from others around me. I love the art and want to enjoy the process and accept wherever it may take me.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and work as a machinist on the weekends
