Galileo Segura
Galileo Segura is a young man who gets and holds your attention on stage. I most recently saw Galileo as Davey in the Firehouse Theatre’s terrific production of Newsies. I was impressed by his outstanding vocals and the sincerity he brought to the character. Galileo’s talent and stage charisma make him a welcome addition to the stars of the DFW stages. Take a few moments to read about Galileo’s background and future aspirations.
When was your first time on stage?
It was in high school when I got the chance to play one of the munchkins for The Wizard of Oz in our high school musical!
When did you know you wanted to become an actor?
I knew I wanted to be an actor when I found the thrill of playing different emotions in different characters. Basically, my thought process was, hey, if I get to be a lawyer or a policeman, I can bring myself to learn about it and embrace that character.
Who is your greatest mentor?
Innumerable people have gotten me to where I am, but I’m beyond grateful for my KD Conservatory teachers and my former piano and ballet/jazz teacher back in Cabo San Lucas.
What role have you enjoyed the most in your career so far?
Without a doubt, my most recent role as Davey in Newsies has been an absolute journey of joy alongside my cast mates.
Do you have a dream role?
Top 3 right now I think are Bernardo from West Side Story, Frank from Catch Me If You Can, and Aladdin from Aladdin.
What person(s) would you like to be on stage with?
I think working with new people is exciting, but I would love to work again with my cast mates from Newsies, Sarah Powell and, if a man can dream, Ben Fankhauser.
What performances have you seen that impressed you?
The Lion King in the West End and Gypsy here in DFW.
What are your career goals?
Being a part of a musical touring company would be swell since I’ve always loved traveling. Broadway or the West End are aspirations as well.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I’m Mexican, but I also have Arabic and Irish blood. And piano is my favorite hobby.
