Shrek the Musical
Shrek The Musical
Music by Jeanine Tesori
Book and Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire
Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig
Performances: February 21 - March 23, 2025
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.
"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek. Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

Phantom in Concert
Phantom in Concert
Book by: Arthur Kopit
Music & Lyrics By: Maury Yeston
Based on Gaston Leroux’s novel The Phantom of the Opera
Directed By: Michael Serrecchia
Music Directed By: Adam C. Wright
Phantom has appeared in over 1,000 productions worldwide, across America, Japan, Korea, the UK, Germany, Poland, Australia, Finland, Estonia, The Philippines and other countries. Written by Yeston and Arthur Kopit, their Phantom relates the heart-rending 19th century tale of Eric – disfigured from birth yet as beautiful on the inside as he is misshapen on the outside. Raised from youth and hidden in the crypts and lagoons beneath the Paris Opera, the adult Eric has an inner beauty reflecting the music that all his life has wafted down from the stage above to his secret crypt below, and has sustained him. When an untalented egomaniacal Diva takes over the Opera House the musical environment so dear to his life, on which he subsists, is shattered. He seeks a voice and a singer to restore the only beauty he’s ever known – and finds it in the astonishingly gifted young soprano Christine Daiae, with whom he falls deeply in love.

Join us as we plunge into the dark underbelly of the movie industry where up is down, left is right, and right is wrong. Music, dance, and spectacle intensify the evening. It’s the kind of inventive, trailblazing theater you’ll only find at the Ochre House.

The African Company Presents Richard III
The African Company Presents Richard III
Written by Carlyle Brown
Directed by Lisa Cote
“…the personal and the historical, the comic and the angry propels THE AFRICAN COMPANY…theatrical and social concerns entwine with powerful resonances to today…Mr. Brown is a writer with a distinct voice and a powerful story to tell.”
—Washington Post.
This powerful historical play is inspired by a true story of the first Black theatrical group in the country, the African Grove Company of New York. Forty years before the Civil War, the African Grove Theatre Troupe in New York sets about staging a production of Richard III to which black and white audiences flocked. But when a major (and white) New York company scores a big name star to be featured in their own production of Richard III, they are determined to shut down the African company's show at any cost. The play ends with the Company, surviving, its integrity intact, and about to launch an equally progressive new chapter in the American theatre: They’ll soon be producing the first black plays written by Black Americans of their day.

A Life In The Theatre
A Life In The Theatre
BY DAVID MAMET
A Life in the Theatre portrays the changing relationship between John and Robert, two actors- one older and experienced, the other a young up-and-comer - working together in a repertory company. Robert, the older man, feels he has a great deal to teach John, and, as they work together in a series of shows, he passes on his wisdom. John, the novice, hangs on Robert's every word at first, knowing that he has a lot to learn about the theatre. As time passes, however, Robert becomes resentful of John's success, and John, ever more confident, tires of Robert's cliche advice. Mamet's play examines our changing roles in life through the metaphor of the theatre's never-ending demand for new roles.

Almost, Maine
Almost, Maine
A woman carries her heart, broken into pieces, in a small paper bag. A man shrinks to half his former size, after losing hope in love. A woman keeps the love they have given each other in large red bags. These playful and surreal experiences are commonplace in the world of John Cariani’s Almost, Maine, where on one cold and magical midwinter night, the citizens of Almost -- not organized enough for a town, too populated for a wilderness -- experience the life-altering power of the human heart. Relationships end, begin, or change beyond recognition, as strangers become friends, friends become lovers, and lovers turn into strangers. Propelled by the mystical energy of the aurora borealis and populated with characters that are humorous, plain-spoken, thoughtful, and sincere, Almost, Maine is a series of loosely connected tales about love, each with a compelling couple at its center, each with its own touch of magic.
