Amanda Reid
Somehow you just know when you are in the presence of someone very special, someone with star presence and power. I recently saw the stunning Amanda Reid as Mary Magdalene in NTPA’s Jesus Christ Superstar and was blown away by her performance. She brought real artistry to the role with her skillful acting and gorgeous mellow voice. This is a young woman who is going places in the performing arts. She already has film and television credits and is finishing her BFA in Musical Theater. You will be hearing much more from the supremely gifted Amanda Reid. Take a few moments to learn more about Amanda.
When was your first time on stage?
My first time on stage was the summer before 8 th grade. I played Gabriella in High School Musical 2, Jr!
When did you know you wanted to be an actor?
I was a competitive gymnast until age 13 and was planning to compete in college, but I knew something was missing. I had always loved singing, and I just felt like I needed to pursue acting and performing, so I left gymnastics and started theater!
Who is your greatest mentor?
My greatest mentor is God, and I want my gifts to always glorify Him.
What role have you enjoyed the most in your career so far?
This is a hard one because I have gotten the opportunity to play so many amazing roles, but the role I enjoyed the most so far in my career is Penelope Pennywise in Urinetown.
Do you have a dream role?
I would love to play Ali in Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen.
What person(s) would you like to be on stage with?
When I played Aida, I studied Heather Headley a lot and was so impressed by her. I would love to share the stage with her!
What performances have you seen that impressed you?
I saw Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway when I was younger, and it was so moving. I loved it!
What are your career goals?
I am still open to various career goals in the arts, but for now I am focusing on TV and film opportunities as well as my next semester pursuing my BFA in Musical Theater at Shenandoah University.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
People are always surprised to find out that I have nine siblings!
