To DIE:GO in Leaves by Frida Kahlo returns to Cara Mía Theatre;
Presented in English and Spanish
The life of Frida Kahlo is rendered for the stage in Cara Mía Theatre’s original play, To DIE:GO in Leaves by Frida Kahlo, this February 18th through March 12th at the Latino Cultural Center.
Performances will be held in both English and Spanish with six performances in English and five in Spanish for the general public. Shows will also be available in both languages for student matinees.
Originally premiering in 2004, To DIE:GO in Leaves by Frida Kahlo tells a story as much through movement and imagery as dialogue. Inspired by Kahlo’s paintings and biography, this performance seamlessly comes together under director Jeffry Farrell’s vision and African drummer Kweku Codrington’s live musical accompaniment.
“To DIE:GO in Leaves by Frida Kahlo is one of Cara Mía Theatre’s most exhilarating plays,” said David Lozano, Executive Artistic Director of the Cara Mía Theatre. “It was a collective creation by the original ensemble under the direction of one of my mentors, Jeffry Farrell. This play inspired how Cara Mía Theatre has created plays ever since - collaboratively, with dynamic movement, bilingual and high theatricality.”
