Natural Shocks: A One Woman Play in a Tornado

by

Lauren Gunderson

An insurance agent, a gun, and a tornado walk into a basement.

It’s a comedy… Until it isn’t.

Insurance agents aren’t supposed to be funny, but what can you do except crack jokes when you’re trapped in your basement with a gun and an impending tornado? Angela is a fast-talking woman filled with mostly-true stories about her mother, her husband, and how likely you are to actually die in a tornado. Based on Hamlet's “To be or not to be,” Natural Shocks is a one-woman tour-de-force that is part confessional, part stand up, and part reckoning, spiraling towards a conclusion you’ll never forget.

Content warnings for language, blood, gun violence, and discussions of domestic violence.

WANT AN EARLY PEEK AT ANGELA'S BASEMENT?

Meet us at the Bath House this Thursday 5/4 for our pay-what-you-can preview.

TALKBACKS ARE BACK!

Following select performances during Natural Shocks, we'll be hosting talkbacks with the cast and creative team for a behind-the-scenes look at the production. Join us on May 11 and 13 for guest experts from The Family Place, a Dallas-based organization dedicated to helping victims of family violence across North Texas.
