AUDITIONS: Circe: The Song of Benedito

Prism Movement Theater

Circe: The Song of Benedito
Directed by Iv Amenti and Jonah Gutierrez

NON-Equity

Circe: The Song of Benedito tells the tale of Benedito, an enslaved African brought into the fields of Brazil. In his journey of survival, he discovers the war strategies of the local indigenous people that inevitably become known as Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial art of dance and war.

This will be a collaboration with Os Malandros de Mestre Touro. They were founded by Mestre Preto Velho as a means to empower his community through the art of Capoeira. More than just a means of self-defense, it is a method of cultural connection. The local Dallas chapter has been holding classes in the metroplex since 1997 and is open to everyone interested in growing in the art of Capoeira.
