It's always wonderful seeing shows through the eyes of nine-year-old Mila Vincent, Dallas' youngest theater critic, as she shares her thoughts on shows she has never seen before. This time, in addition to her co-reviewing grandmother, Johannah Luza, Mila brought her little sister, Avivah, 6, and her cousin Everly Shayn, 5, to enjoy the CenterStage Theatre Works production of Elf the Musical with her.

Mila:  I saw the movie Elf but never the play, so this was really fun. The people at CenterStage Theatre Works are so nice! I got to bring my cousin and little sister and they loved it!  We laughed so hard.

Buddy the Elf was played by Thomas Schnaible and he was hilarious! My little sister could not stop laughing.  Neither could my cousin! My grandma laughed too.  I had to keep saying "Shhh" so other people could hear.

Elf is a human but he thinks he's an elf. He doesn't know he's a human. But he doesn't fit in like the other elves. Santa loves him anyway. Then he finds out he's not a real elf and Santa sends him to New York City to meet his dad. Boy, that was a real surprise to his dad. And Buddy the elf has a hard time convincing him. He didn't even know he had a son. Especially a son who acts like a silly elf! Buddy gets a girlfriend and takes her to dinner to eat spaghetti with syrup on top!  I did that once and it was pretty good!

I like the CenterStage Theatre Works because you are right there with the actors, so close. In fact, Buddy the Elf threw snow all over us! It wasn't real snow but it was fun! Jovie, Buddy's girlfriend, was a good actor too,. She was played by Lauren Rodriguez and my little cousin Everly Shayn just loved her!

Johannah: Seeing Elf with three little girls was pure joy!  The actors had their attention the entire time and the girls had a hard time leaving after meeting the characters!  They could have stayed for hours if I had let them!  This is such a fun show with a good lesson. Five stars for certain. Take your family and you'll all leave with smiles on your faces.

I got a Mila hug!
