Alana Fabio

Alana Fabio is a recent DFW transplant and is ready to make her mark on the theater scene here. Having witnessed Alana’s power on stage in Theatre Frisco’s Side by Side by Sondheim, I have no doubt that she is a star in the making. Her beautiful soprano voice stopped me in my tracks. I know the word “phenomenal” is overused, but that is the only way to describe her voice. That voice coupled with the incredible warmth she projects on stage is going to take Alana Fabio to the top as a performer. Take a few moments to read about Alana’s journey in theater so far.

When was your first time on stage?

My first time on stage was in Annie the musical at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse in San Gabriel, CA! I was 9 years old, and I played the role of Tessie, one of the orphans.

When did you know you wanted to be an actor?

It was made very clear to me when I was 16 years old. I was in rehearsals for The Wiz, and one evening after rehearsal I was reading through the entire script. As I finished reading the lyrics to Dorothy's last song, "Home", something there really spoke to me. It was the lyric, "We must look inside our hearts to find a world full of love, like yours, like mine, like home." I realized then that the best way for me to use my gifts to bring love into the world would be through musical theatre.

 Who is your greatest mentor?

I consider all the people close to me in my life as mentors. Some that have stood out with their generosity in mentoring me are Maria Elena DeBellard and Lisa Limtiaco, two professional women who have helped me navigate careers with different seasons of my life, and Fr. Paul Donlan who helped both my husband and me prepare spiritually for marriage and life in general.

What role have you enjoyed the most in your career so far?

I really loved playing Belle in Beauty and the Beast. It was so cool to just be a Disney princess and waltz around the stage as a fabulous cast upstage of me sang "Beauty and the Beast" and an enchanted audience downstage of me marveled at the beautiful set, costumes, and music.

Do you have a dream role?

Yes! Maria in The Sound of Music, Jo March in Little Women, or some role that hasn't even been created yet!

What person(s) would you like to be on stage with?

Julie Andrews, Ramin Karimloo, Jeremy Jordan, Ella Fitzgerald.

What performances have you seen that impressed you?

When I saw Wicked in Los Angeles in 2007 as a young girl, I was blown away. Also, while it doesn't include live performers, the World of Color outdoor nighttime spectacular at Disney's California Adventure Park is something I'm always impressed by. It's a show that weaves together water, light, music, and pyrotechnics to retell treasured Disney stories. I'm always moved to tears by the magic of it all.

What are your career goals?

While career goals are constantly evolving as opportunities and the industry shifts here and there, one thing that's certain is I would love to be a mom one day and raise amazing human beings alongside my wonderful husband, Anthony.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I love boba tea. I am always down to get boba with anyone. I also got my foot stuck in the side of an escalator once!
